ENGLISH SYNOPSIS: Diosas subterráneas (Subterranean or Subversive Goddesses in English), talks about women who have been kidnapped by sexual slave traffickers in Mexico. In the play, the Greek myth of Demeter and her daughter Persephone, who is kidnapped into the underworld by the god Hades, is intertwined with the story of Luz García, a character based on real stories of kidnapped women who were able to escape from traffickers and become activists. The play tells the story of mothers looking for their daughters and finding an echo in the strength of community. It is a story of disobedience and subversion.

SPANISH SYNOPSIS: Las diosas subterráneas habla de las mujeres desaparecidas por la trata para explotación sexual en México. En la obra, se entrecruzan el mito griego de Deméter y su hija Perséfone, raptada al inframundo por el dios Hades, con la historia de Luz García, personaje basado en historias reales de mujeres desaparecidas que logran escapar de la trata y se convierten en activistas. La obra narra una historia de madres que buscan a sus hijas y encuentran eco en la fuerza de la colectividad. Es una historia de desobediencia y subversión.
